Hello Parents,

Here are the updates for this week

1- School Trip to Ripley's Aquarium - Wednesday November 19



The students will attend a workshop at Ripley's Aquarium on Wednesday November 19. Through the workshop, the students will discover the amazing world of sharks, their jaws, as well as appreciate how misunderstood they are. They will also discover the diversity of body coverings of animals living in the aquatic eco-systems. After the workshop, the students will walk around the aquarium.

The school bus will leave the school at 9:15am and will return at 2:00pm. For this school trip, the students will be asked to wear their full uniform. They will have to bring a light lunch and snacks in their small blue backpack.

For the parent volunteers, each volunteer parent will escort one or two students and will take the school bus with the students. Please don't forget your camera.

2- Holiday Bazaard - Wednesday December 3

The PSC is cordially inviting you all to the Holiday Bazaard on Wednesday December 3 in the gymnasium. This event is from 3:30pm until 8:00pm.

- Free face painting & free admission
- Pizza and variety of healthy drinks 
- Karaoke for all ages
- Games for all ages
- Tons of shopping: fashion, jewelry, baked goods, comics
- Raffle and silent auction
- All kids and family members welcomed


3- Gala - Friday December 19

I am giving you a heads-up about the upcoming student gala on Friday December 19. Details about time and location will come from the school within the coming weeks.


Please be aware that the school is closed on that day and that parents and students are reportedly expected to attend. Having said that, please inform Mme Fabregues ASAP if you know ahead of time that your child will not attend the gala.

The gala is an opportunity to see our children performing songs that they have learned, and they will perform dressed in a costume.

Please let Madame Fabregues, know if you are interested in volunteering for this activity.


Week of October 26, 2014



Hello Parents,


1) Bake Sale - Pizza Day - Casual Day - Pyjama Day - Monday October 27

The PSC is organizing a Halloween-themed bake sale on Monday. The food for sale is donated by parents or purchased using money donated by parents for the bake sale. If you wish to bring food, please make sure that the food is free from any nut and tree-nut products. The food can be home made or store bought. Ghoulish treats are welcome!

For home made food, please take extra care to ensure that your working area is not contaminated by nuts. Please avoid hard candies and bubble gums, as they can be choquing hazard. If you wish to donate money, you can do so by putting money in an envelope labeled “Bake Sale Donation From (insert your name)”, and leave it in the PSC box right next to the school entrance door.

Food will be on sale during the first recess and lunch recess, with food for sale ranging from $1 to $3 (this is a fundraising event for the school). Please put some money in your child's lunch bag if you wish to participate.

Monday is also Pizza Day and Casual Day. The theme for Casual Day is "Pyjama Day". The cost to participate in Casual Day is $2, as this is a fundraiser organized by the LCA Student Council. A few weeks ago, parents were offered the opportunity to pay in advance for some or each Casual Days. If you have chosen not to pay in advance and you want your child to participate in Casual Days, then please put $2 in your child's lunchbag on Monday.

2) Greeting Cards "Cards By Me" - Return Drawing on Monday October 27

Last week, you have received a drawing created by your child as part of the Cards By Me fundraising program. With this program, you are being given the opportunity to order greeting cards and/or calendars with your child's artwork on the cover.

A set of 12 greeting cards and envelopes is priced at $25.00 and the calendar is $7.50. Both greeting cards and calendars are offered for $30.00.

If you are interested in participating in this program, please fill out the form on the back of the drawing. Return the completed form with the drawing and the money to Mme Irma on Monday October 27. This is to ensure that the greeting cards are printed on time for the holiday season.

If you are not interested in this program, please return the drawing to Mme Irma on Monday October 27.

3) Halloween Fair - Wednesday October 29

The Spirit Committee will present the annual Halloween Fair during the entire afternoon on Wednesday October 29.

All students participating will have to bring their own costumes to school and can change during lunch recess before the activities begin. Violent costumes and weapons are not allowed

There will be many activities, including a haunted house, themed-games, pumpkin decorating (for Grades PK-SK), pumpin carving (for Grades 5-7), a dance, a scavenger hunt and a costume contest with prizes.

There will be a Halloween Store where students can purchase Halloween-themed items. For a small fee, students will also have the opportunity to play various games at stations set up in the gym for prizes. The cost for these stations will range from 25 cents to 2 dollars. Please remember to send change with the students on the 29th.


4) Parent/Teacher Interview - Friday October 31

There will be a Parent/Teacher Interview on Friday October 31. The students will not have any classes during that day, and the daycare will not be opened. This will be a day off for the students. The interviews are scheduled between 9:00am and 5:00pm.

This week, we will receive an email from the school with the instructions on how to register online, including your username and password. Once you are logged in, the steps to follow are pretty straight forward.

5) November Break - Monday November 3 Till Friday November 7

The school will be closed to the students during the first week of November.

6) QSP Magazine Fundraising

Last week, you have received an envelope from QSP, containing a catalogue of magazine subscription for sale. This magazine sale will help raise funds for programs, activities and equipment that benefit our children. QSP is also offering photo keepsakes, such as cards, calendars, stickers, posters, photo books, chore charts, using your own photos.

To order magazines, please fill out the form that came with the catalogue and return it to the homeroom teacher no later than Monday November 10. If you prefer to order online, please visit the QSP website: www.qsp.ca. Our school group number is 3740875.

7) Homeopathy Seminar for K-12 - Wednesday November 12

DATE: Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. .
PRESENTER: Francine Lupton, Homeopath

Francine will talk about homeopathy for children and adults in our daily lives.

Topics will include:
• Introduction to homeopathy
• Benefits to you and your family
• First aid treatments – cuts, bruises etc.
• Illness prevention
• Healing of the common cold and flu

8) Guided Tours to the New School Location

La Citadelle is offering two guided tours at the new school location at 36 Scarsdale Road on Friday November 7. The first tour is scheduled at 2pm, and the second tour at 3pm. Interested parents are asked to communicate with the Main Office to confirm their participation, their selected tour, and the number of adult and children attending the visit. This is a construction site, therefore there is a limit to the number of visitors per session. There will be other guided tours during the month of November.



Week of October 20, 2014

(Scholastic Book Fair - Monday October 20 Until Friday October 24

The Scholastic Book Fair will take place in the school from Monday to Friday.

Times:
Mornings from 7:50am to 8:10am
Lunch times from 12:20pm to 12:55pm
Afternoons from 4:30pm to 5:00pm


On Friday, the book fair will close after the lunch time period.

Students will have the opportunity to visit the Scholastic Book Fair during the periods stated above to browse and/or purchase books.

There will be a family event draw, where you could win $50 in books ($25 for your family and $25 for your child's classroom).

You can contribute to the classroom libraries by purchasing books and donating them to the school. Next to the entrance to the fair, you will find the Classroom Wish List display for parents interested in helping us build classroom libraries.

3) PSC School Spirit Event - Sunday October 26
  • The PSC School Spirit Event is taking place on Sunday October 26 at Child Play in Etobicoke, from 1pm till 4pm. 

4) The School Is a Nut-Free Environment


  • The homeroom teachers would like to remind all parents and students that the school is really a nut-free environment. Please be extra-vigilant when sending food to school, to make sure that the food contain no nut and tree-nut products. 














Week of October 13, 2014

1) Thanksgiving - Monday October 13

  • Monday October 13 is Thanksgiving, and the school is closed.

2) Top Marks - Wednesday October 15
  • Top Marks, the uniform supplier, will be at the school on Wednesday October 15.

3) Registration to the PSC School Spirit Event - Wednesday October 15
  • The PSC is organizing the School Spirit Event on Sunday October 26 from 1pm till 4pm. The deadline to submit your registration is Wednesday October 15. 

4) School Photo Retake - Friday October 17

  • This is to remind you that the deadline to order the school photos is Tuesday October 14. After that date, you will need to add $10 for shipping and handling. Orders can be made online at www.edgeimaging.com/

If you prefer a new set of photos, I would like to inform you that photo retake will take place on Friday October 17.

5) Kid's Kitchen Thanksgiving Special Lunch


  • Kid's Kitchen is offering a special Thanksgiving Special lunch, which includes: Roast turkey slices with gravy, stuffing, peas and corn, and a homemade pumpkin cupcake. The special lunch will be available until October 31. If you are interested, please place your order online at: http://www.kidskitchen.ca/ Orders must be places by 10am the previous business day.
