Get Involved!!!
Be a Class Parent Rep. or Class
Helper!
At La Citadelle, we pride ourselves on being a
community and a family and wish to continue to be an exemplary holistic
educational environment for our children by being proactive in our participation
in school life. The PSC(Parent Support
Committee) sets the tone for the support of the school in its endeavours and is
continually seeking the voluntary participation of all parents in this noble
undertaking.
Being a class parent representative or a class
helper volunteer is a great opportunity for parents to be involved in the
school life, to meet other parents, and to provide much valued support to our
classroom teachers.
Children learn some of the most important life
attributes and contributions, simply through example and who can best shine in
helping to demonstrate this: YOU!
In this volunteer role, parents have the
opportunity to participate in the educational experience of their children and
their class and take an active interest in the development of the school.
If you
are interested in volunteering for these exciting roles, please send us an
email by Friday, October 30th,
2014 at:
stating
your name, your child’s grade level and your telephone number. We will have a meeting of all Class Parents
and Class Helpers in the Science Laboratory at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, November
14, 2014.
We are currently looking for:
Class Representatives for Grades 3 to 12 and
Class Helpers for Junior Kindergarten and Senior
Kindergarten
For Further description of what these roles
entail, please refer to the Role Description Attached.
Classroom Helpers and Representatives will be
contacted by the end of the month to attend a Class Parent Representatives
meeting.
We
look forward to your support in making this another great year at La Citadelle!
Class Room Representatives:
Class Reps facilitate communication
between teachers and parents and among parents in the class. They also send teachers requests, reminders, and/or other
class/school related announcements to the parents. Class Reps engage and listen to parents and
direct parents to appropriate resources, such as a teacher or administrator for
any issues and concerns. Class Reps support new families, prepare parent
contact lists, organize teacher appreciation, and build community by organizing
parent events with our teachers and classes.
Classroom Helpers:
Classroom
Helpers support teachers, including helping with class events, special
errands, organizing classroom supplies, helping with events like the Gala (and
in some cases preparing the Gala Costumes where needed), fieldtrip set-up, and finding
extra volunteers if needed for fieldtrips, Class Helpers also support Class
Reps with teacher appreciation and as backup where needed in case of short term
absence, e.g. vacation, etc.
